MEET THE BOARD
We are a totally volunteer driven non profit with a base of 26 volunteers and a board of nine members.
Laura Delaflor - Co-President
Laura grew up in Mexico before moving to the United States in 1999. She moved originally to Riverside, and has lived for the past eight years in Cos Cob. She is a mother of two. Laura has a degree in Public Relations which she has used to good effect as a volunteer. She volunteered for many years in the Greenwich Public Schools until her children graduated. She was also a Girl Scout troop leader at Cos Cob School for five years and Co-Chair of the YMCA Marlins Swim Team Parent Association for two years. She currently volunteers at Greenwich Hospital where she is a member of their auxiliary board. She is also on the Advisory Board of First Bank of Greenwich.
Lucy Langley - Co-President
Lucy grew up in the UK and left in 1997, moving all over the world with her husband and children before eventually settling in the United States in 2002. She is a Cos Cob resident and a mother of two. She graduated from Durham University, England with a Geology degree, and went on to pursue a career in advertising and promotions, and later was an Office Manager. In addition to volunteering in the Greenwich Public Schools and being a PTA board member, she also volunteered for the Greenwich Red Cross and helped to start the Greenwich Kids Track Club, managing it for six years. She has been volunteering at Neighbor to Neighbor since 2014 on the clothing distribution side, which is where she came up with the idea for The Undies Project.
Edgar Delaflor - Secretary
Edgar is a senior sales exective leader who spent the majority of his career with IBM holding various leadership positions around the world, including the United States, Mexico and Europe. Edgar has years of experience in IT Leasing and Asset Disposition services. He has been a volunteer in multiple local organizations including the YMCA Marlins Swim Team, Greenwich High School Swim Team, the Fall Soccer League in Greenwich, and the Kiwanis Club of Mamaroneck-Harrison-Rye. Edgar has a BBA and anMBA from the Universidad del Valle de Mexico. He grew up in the suburbs of Mexico City and moved with his wife and two children to the United States in 1999. He currently resides in Cos Cob, CT with this family.
John Langley - Treasurer
John has a degree in Natural Sciences from Durham University, England; is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales; hold FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses; and holds a level-1 USA Track & Field coaching certificate. He served as a volunteer coach for the Greenwich Kids Track Club and volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America, including being Scoutmaster for Troop 9, Greenwich. He worked for the Credit Agricole group for over 25 years as regional head of corporate banking operations for Credit Agricole CIB in the Americas.
Virginia (Ginnie) Cheney - Outreach Chair
Ginnie currently lives in Cos Cob, CT and has been there for over 23 years. Prior to that she lived in central Greenwich, CT. She is a graduate of Wheaton College with a degree in Psychology. Her professional career was predominately in the oil industry in various positions ranging from Back Office Manager to Vice President of Operations. The last 10 years of her career were in the agricultural industry where she negotiated master contracts for over-the-counter derivative transactions. Ginnie retired in 2016 and currently volunteers for Kids in Crisis, Cos Cob , Neighbor to Neighbor in Greenwich and The Rummage Room in Old Greenwich.
Kristine Faillace - Grant Writer
Kristine resides in Cos Cob with her husband and daughter. She has worked locally as a licensed Insurance Professional for over 20 years. She is also a licensed Real Estate Salesperson. Kristine attended Sacred Heart University for business administration and holds a degree in Social Science. Organizations in Greenwich and Stamford that Kristine has volunteered for include The Bruce Museum, The Red Cross as a first aid instructor, and the Greenwich Public School System. Currently Kristine is a Committee Member of the Flinn Gallery in Greenwich and is a longtime supporter of the ASPCA and The Smile Train.
Mamie Lee - Fundraising Chair
Mamie currently lives in Kona, Hawaii with her husband Jim and had resided in Greenwich for over 30 years. She has two daughters who still live on the mainland. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from CUNY in Asian Studies. Mamie had a 15-year career in sales as a U.S Equity Trader/Japanese Specialist before she retired from CS First Boston. She has served on the YWCA Board of Directors and has held positions on the North Street School, Central Middle School and Greenwich High School Executive PTA Boards. Mamie chairs the Diversity Book Group at the YWCA and is involved with Second Congregational Church, Greenwich.
Joe Hadley - Board Member
Joe is a partner in the law firm Davis Polk & Wardell LLP in NYC. He is a graduate of Cornell University ,with a BS degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Columbia Law School. He is a father of two. Amongst various volunteer activities Joe has undertaken he was a volunteer Scoutmaster for Troop 9 in Greenwich. He and his wife, Anne Marie Reilly, live in Greenwich.
Debra Ponzek - Board Member
Debra graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1984. After cooking in top New Jersey restaurants she was hired by Drew Nieporent as sous-chef at the fledging Montrachet. Ten months later Debra was promoted to chef, a position she held for seven years and where she earned three consecutive three-star reviews from the New York Times. She opened Aux Délices, a gourmet prepared food shop, cafe and catering business in Greenwich, CT in 1994, with stores to follow in Darien and Westport. She also manages Aux Délices Events, a full service catering and event planning division of Aux Délices. Debra is married, has three children and resides in Greenwich, CT.
